Wilbur Lippert

Wilbur Keith “Wib” Lippert, age 91 Arenzville, died Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Heritage Health in Beardstown.

He was born September 1, 1929 in Morgan County, the son of Harry and Marcella Hierman Lippert. He married Sally Brubeck on November 15, 1959 at Beardstown United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife Sally Lippert of Arenzville; two sons Gregory Lippert of Arenzville and Kenneth Joe (wife Diane) Lippert of Greenville; three grandchildren Logan Lippert of Edwardsville, Morgan Lippert of Glen Carbon, and Jordan Lippert of Greenville; one brother Richard (wife Kay) Lippert of Arenzville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Charlene Lippert, and four brothers Beryl, Norman (deceased Donna, Gordon (deceased wife Doris) and Max (deceased wife Betty) Lippert.

Wilbur graduated from Arenzville High School in the class of 1947 and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. When he returned home, he began working on the river. During his time off he also worked as a Brickmason. This became the career that he was widely known for.  Wilbur was member of Anti Thieves Association, Beardstown Elks Lodge #1007, Burtonwood Association, and Arenzville American Legion Post #604 in which he was highly active. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends at AJ’s in Arenzville and the Elks Lodge. He was fond of baseball and played through High School, his military career and a local fast pitch team. He was a man of few words but a friend to all.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown with burial in Arenzville North Cemetery. The services will also be live streamed at 1 PM Tuesday on the funeral home website. There will be no visitation.

Due to the current health situation, face masks will be required and to comply with social distancing guidelines, a limited number of people will be allowed in the memorial home at one time.
