Troy Brockschmidt

Stevin Troy Brockschmidt, 53 of Riverton and formerly of Beardstown, died Saturday, February 13, 2016 at his home.

He was born October 26, 1962 in Beardstown, the son of Terry and Mary Smith Brockschmidt.
He is survived by his daughter Breana (fiancé Josh Stocker) Brockschmidt of Beardstown; his sister Lynette (husband Tony) McLain of Gifford; his brother Shaun Brockschmidt of Springfield; his niece Taylor (fiancé Luigi) McLain of Chicago; and his nephews Tyler McLain of Chicago and Tanner McLain of Gifford.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Troy graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1981 and earned his nickname Gabby. He devoted his life to work and started at a young age. He worked for both Korsmeyer Farms and Hardwick Farms and Logsdon Tug Service in Beardstown, was the owner and operator of Brezco Excavating and Construction, and also worked for Illinois Road Contractors in Jacksonville. Troy worked for CMI and was skilled when it came to selling Roadmilling teeth. He was currently working for National Union of Operations and Engineering Local #965. He was an expert at being a jack of all trades.

When Troy wasn’t working, he loved being outdoors, camping, fishing, and duck hunting. He was even known to be quite the cook. Troy was very passionate about SPARC in Springfield. He was the care taker of his brother Shaun who is a resident of SPARC. SPARC is an organization that helps people with cognitive disabilities through developmental training, supported living, employment, and many other programs. Troy’s wishes were that even though flowers are beautiful, in lieu of flowers he would like memorials to be donated to SPARC.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Beardstown. A visitation to celebrate the life of Troy Brockschmidt will be held from 11AM-1PM Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown.
