Thomas Hugh “Tom” Jones, age 56 of Beardstown, died Friday, January 5, 2018 at his home.

He was born May 15, 1961 in Beardstown, the son of Richard Joseph and Imogene Joan Van Hyning Jones. He married Jean Watkins on July 12, 1991.

He is survived by his wife Jean Jones of Beardstown; two sons Clinton Thomas Jones of Jacksonville and William Lance Malone of Virginia; five grandchildren Christian, Tanner, and Kaylin Jones, and Timothy and Elizabeth Malone; four sisters Jody (husband Jerry) Peacock of Beardstown, Vickie (husband Joe) Edwards of Frederick, Mary Shelts of Camden, and Gail Farris of Arenzville; and one brother Richard (wife Dixie) Jones of Beardstown. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Tom graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1980. He has worked for Borton Construction in Tennessee before starting his career with Oscar Mayer, now JBS, in Beardstown. He recently just retired after 28 years of employment. Tom was a member of Grace Bible Church in Beardstown. He was an avid outdoorsman who could be found fishing, hunting and mushroom hunting, or riding his four wheeler. He also did some woodworking and was usually listening to classic rock on WYMG. Tom was a friend to all and he was known as “Pal”.

A memorial service will be held at 7 PM, Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown with Pastor Steve Griffin officiating. The family will meet with friends two hour prior to the services at the memorial home.
