Timothy Richard Bartholomew, 66, of Arenzville, died Sunday, February 2, 2025, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

He was born August 21, 1958, in Jacksonville, the son of Richard Harvey and Marjorie Elaine Buhlig Bartholomew.

Tim is survived by his father, Richard Bartholomew of Arenzville; his three children, Alex Bartholomew, Ashley Willis, and Kaden Bartholomew; three grandchildren, Lincoln Jack, Ellie, and Lily; his stepchildren, Katie Cruz (husband Juan) and Phillip (wife Jillian) McGinnis; a sister, Jill Kitterman (husband Jason) of Rock Island; two brothers, Bradley Wayne Bartholomew (wife Alesha) of Stephenson Ranch, CA, and Ed Bartholomew of Jacksonville; his aunt, Jan Buhlig of Bluffs; and numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved to tease. He was preceded in death by his mother and his uncle, Dale Buhlig.

Tim graduated from Triopia High School in 1976 and earned a bachelor's in music education from Western Illinois University in 1980. He had a lifelong passion for music, playing in the marching band throughout high school and at WIU and participating in various other musical activities. After college, he taught music for several years before moving on to a career in maintenance for Cargill, JBS, and Heritage Manor. Most recently, he worked at Home Depot in Jacksonville. Tim was a member of the Methodist faith and served for a time as the Choir Director at Beardstown United Methodist Church. He played several musical instruments, with a particular love for the French horn. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing with his brother.

A celebration of life will be held from 12-3 PM Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the Beardstown Elks Lodge #1007. Private family burial will be held in Arenzville North Cemetery. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
