Terry Shinall

Terry Jack Shinall, age 71 of Beardstown, died Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born May 9, 1946 in Beardstown, the son of Thomas Shinall and Vera (Simmons) Duckwiler. He married Jennie Ransom on February 14, 1987 in Beardstown.

He is survived by his wife Jennie Shinall of Beardstown; his son Jamie (wife Terri) Daniels of Pleasant Plains; his daughter Theresa Shinall; three grandchildren Allie, Bryanna, and Taylor; three sisters Charlotte Callihan of Galesburg, Sandy (husband Larry) Anderson of St. Augustine, IL, and Debbie (husband Robert) Easley of Avon; one brother Bernard “Duck” Duckwiler (and Cathy) of Abingdon; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his best friend Boy Blake.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved Jack Russel Terrier Harley.


Terry graduated high school in California and later served in the United States Army. He worked for the State of Illinois and later on for Beatty Hardware in Beardstown as a licensed plumber. He was active in Beardstown City politics serving as an alderman and as a Precinct Committeeman. He liked to hunt for arrowheads, mushrooms, and memorabilia items to add to his collection. Terry enjoyed gardening, but most of all he loved being with his family and helping others.


A celebration of life will be held at 2 PM Monday, November 27, 2017 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown, with Pastor Mike Courson officiating. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services at the memorial home. Private family burial will be held.
