Terry Mcgovern

Terry Lee McGovern, age 71 of Beardstown died Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Quincy Illinois Veterans Home.

He was born August 26, 1949 in Beardstown, the son of William and Wanda Skiles McGovern, Sr.

He is survived by two daughters Kelly (husband Bill) Wilson of Mahomet and Cappie (husband Beau) Chasteen of Lewistown; his mother Wanda McGovern of Beardstown; four grandchildren Mick, AJ, and Jackson Schlueter, and Andrew Dusenbery; and one brother Bill (wife Janet) McGovern of Beardstown. He was preceded in death by his father.

Terry graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1967 and then honorably served in the United States Army. Upon his return home, Terry, his father, and his brother formed McGovern and Sons. They spent many years building homes together and working with heavy equipment. Terry attended First Christian Church in Beardstown. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, was a Ford Mustang fanatic, and was a member of a Mustang Forum and even hosted a birthday party for Mustang Steve.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements. Memorials have been suggested to Quincy Illinois Veterans Home Activity Fund.
