Shawn Fishel

Shawn E. “Fishman” Fishel, age 47 of Springfield and formerly of Beardstown, died Sunday, March 4, 2018 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

He was born September 1, 1970 in Beardstown, the son of Harry Leroy and Judith Ann Rogers Fishel.

He is survived by his partner in life Jessica Shores of Springfield; three children Dylan (mother Michelle Fishel), Connor, and Sarah Fishel all of Springfield, his mother Judith Fishel (companion Tim Harris) of Beardstown; his in-laws Melanie Shores of Springfield and Silena (husband Daniel) Norman of Indiana; seven nieces and nephews Madeline, Logan, Chase, Kaitlyn, Michael, Martina, and Dani; and his dog Chacho.

He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers John and Ryan Fishel, and his in laws Gary Shores, and Jerry Kelly.

Shawn graduated from Beardstown High School in the class 1988. He worked as a Land Surveyor for many years and was currently working for Green and Bradford in Springfield. He enjoyed “managing” his fantasy football teams, Sugar Shack and The Blitz. Shawn was an avid Cubs, Bears, and Illini fan, but also enjoyed watching most all sports. He was a family man who never missed family game night, but most of all he cherished his children and partner in life.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4-8 PM Friday, March 9, 2018 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Graveside memorial services will be held at 2 PM Saturday at Beardstown City Cemetery.
