Robert Thorp-Lancaster

Robert Wayne Thorp-Lancaster, age 63 of Beardstown, died Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at his home.

He was born September 3, 1954 in Beardstown, the son of Morris Hartwell and Viola “Bub” Lawson Lancaster. He married Sharon Thorp on July 25, 1981.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Thorp-Lancaster of Beardstown; two sons Michael Edward (wife Summer) Thorp-Lancaster of Rolla, MO and Daniel Morris (companion Laura Sanchez)Thorp-Lancaster of Macomb; four grandchildren Leslee and Billy Boyce, and Colin and Milo Thorp-Lancaster; and two brothers Morris Lancaster and Donny Lancaster both of Beardstown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Warren and Emmy Lawson, Leslie Lancaster, and William and Mabel Bell, and one brother William W. Lancaster.

Robert graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1973 and then served six years in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a Tank Commander and stationed in Germany and Fort Hood in Texas. In 1995 he graduated from Western Illinois University with a Degree in Individual Studies. Robert previously worked for Bohn Aluminum in Beardstown, and for the past 11 years, he worked in Aisle Quality at DOT Foods in Mt. Sterling. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and would never miss watching Walter Payton and the Chicago Bears. He liked to watch the History and AHC Channel, George Carlin, and always kept up with the current political news. He enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends, working in the yard, and putzing around. He loved spending time with his family; especially playing with his grandkids.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM Monday, May 14, 2018 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Burial will be held at a later date. An informal visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the memorial home.
