Robert E. Loughary, age 80 of Beardstown, died Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Sarah D. Culbertson Hospital in Rushville.
He was born December 2, 1941 in Beardstown, the son of Earl and Mary Kiltner Loughary. He married Velma Bernice Virgin Perkins on January 15, 1986 and she preceded him in death on June 3, 2013.
He is survived by three children Susan Bivins of Tennessee, Robert Loughary of California, and Patricia (husband Larry) Brewer of Beardstown; five grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; two brothers Kerry (wife Carol) Loughary and Richard Loughary; and his furry friend Kitty. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son Gary Perkins, and a son-in-law BJ Bivins.
Robert graduated from Beardstown High School and then joined the United States Army. He honorably served for 22 years and retired as Master Sargent. Upon his return to Beardstown, he spent 10 years working at Excel Corporation as an electrician. During his retirement, Robert enjoyed playing Bingo, horse racing, and building model military airplanes. His determined demeanor will be missed by all those who knew him.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Beardstown with Rev. Brian Kenney officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by Guthrie-Pierce VFW Post #1239 of Beardstown. There will be no visitation. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
