Robert Harvey Carnahan, age 74 of Eminence, MO, died Friday, June 16, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO.

He was born October 22, 1948 in Beardstown, the son of Benjamin Franklin Carnahan and Margaret Elizabeth Bell Carnahan. He married Patty Pherigo and they divorced. He later married Dana DuRall Carnahan and they also divorced.

He is survived by two children Rebecca (husband Kris) Antle of Willow Springs, MO and Simon Carnahan of Effingham; two grandchildren Dalton Lee Coil and Desiree Coil; two great grandchildren, and one brother Ben (companion Ellen) Carnahan. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Margaret Ann Rice and Elizabeth "Jan" Ring, and his twin brother Thomas George Carnahan.

Robert graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1967. After High School he honorably served in the United States Navy as a boiler tender on the USS Dubuque. After being discharged he obtained his Bachelors in Horticulture for Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He loved the outdoors and was self-employed for the majority of his life known as Carnahan Landscape and Design. He also worked for Millikin University as a ground's keeper of 22 acres of land for many years. After Millikin, he worked for Agracel Inc. as a ground's keeper until his retirement. Bob was of the Methodist faith and spent most of his time attending Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham and Industry United Methodist Church. He had a passion for all things outdoors, camping, canoeing, fishing, and hunting. He also loved to build birdhouses and feeders to attract wildlife. His lifelong love and knowledge of plants, rose bushes, shrubs, trees and grasses allowed many beautiful spaces to be enjoyed by all.

A memorial service will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at the Beardstown City Cemetery. There will not be a visitation. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
