Robert "Bob" Bowman, of Beardstown, died Monday September 19th, 2016 peacefully in his sleep surrounded by the people he loved.

Bob grew up on the farm and hunting area known as Treadway Rod and Gun Club founded by his Grandfather Lee Bowman. Bob was the third generation of caretakers. As a young man, Bob was an avid hunter, however in later years he gave up hunting and enjoyed watching the wild life. He and his wife were long time farmers in the Sangamon Bottoms north east of Beardstown and drove a semi truck as a cross country team for 30 years, retiring at 82 for health reasons.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carole Anne DeSollar Bowman. Also surviving are his three children, Robert, wife Layla, of Portland OR, daughter Janet, husband Bill McGovern of Beardstown, and son Don Bowman, wife Linda Lucas, of Orofino, ID. and their children Dale (Jami) Frank, Dan (Emily) Frank, Rachael (Al) Coleman, Zac (Kami) Bowman, Maggie (Brian) Hemphill, Luke (Katie) Bowman, Kory (Mickayla) McGovern, Melissa McGovern and Cooper Bowman, three step grandchildren, Angela (Dan) Schsliser, Stacy (Mike) Swanger, Rob (Breanna) McGovern as well as 16 great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren, a special cousin, Betty Ells and her family in Clarkston WA, Also surviving are two very special nieces, Sandy (Steve) Mills of Knoxville, IL and Lori (Justin) Moore of Onida and their families and a brother in law, Jim (Dottie Lovell) Harrison.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Billie Bowman, uncles Hugh and Earl Williams, Clifford Bowman, cousins Lawrence and Jack Williams, a very special niece, Janice Kimble, a sister-in-law Mary Jean Harrison, and nephew Kevin Moore.

Cremation rites have been accorded. No services will be held. An Informal visitation will be held at the family home near Beardstown on Sunday September 25th from 2:00-7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the families ask that memorials be made to Cass/Schuyler Area Hospice, Elks Charities, or Make a Wish Foundation.
