Richard Thomas

Richard Lee Thomas, age 79 of Beardstown, died Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Rushville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born July 2, 1941 in Beardstown, the son of Roy D. and Maxine Blum Thomas. He married Betty Hollenback on May 14, 1967 and she preceded him in death on April 13, 1998.

He is survived by three children Lisa Thomas and Brian Thomas both of Beardstown, and Heather Thomas of Rushville; and two grandchildren Caden Michaels and Brennan Ramsey. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a brother Kenneth Wayne Thomas.

Richard graduated from Beardstown High School in the class 1959. He worked for Oscar Mayer in Beardstown until their closing. He then began working for the Beardstown School District driving a bus and retired in 2007, and for many years he assisted clients with their yearly taxes. Richard was a lifelong member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown. He enjoyed cheering for the Beardstown Tiger’s football and basketball teams.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, Sept 16, 2020 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services at the memorial home.

Due to the current health situation, face masks will be required and to comply with social distancing guidelines, a limited number of people will be allowed in the memorial home at one time.
