Nina Rawlins

Nina Rawlins, age 94 of Beardstown, died Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Heritage Health in Beardstown. She was born January 22, 1924 in Beardstown, the daughter of Fred and Hildreth Phillips Knippenberg. She married Kenneth Rawlins on November 4, 1943 and he preceded her in death on October 18, 1987. She is survived by her sister Coila Kays of Beardstown; a nephew Bob (wife Janet) Kays of Beardstown; and her granddaughter Jody (husband Robin) Robinson of Texas; two great grandchildren Ryan and Rachel Robinson of Texas; and her former daughter-in-law Judy (husband Dennis) Guernsey of Springfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Tim Rawlins, three brothers in infancy, and her nephew Fritz of Virginia Nina graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1941. As a young wife and mother she raised chickens and helped her husband on the farm. She also worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Pence in Beardstown, was a cook for Beardstown High School and a baker in the deli at Roe’s Super Value Grocery. Nina was a member of The Community of Christ Church in Beardstown. Private family services will be held. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
