Nancy Young

Nancy D. Young, 67 of Beardstown, died Saturday, July 22, 2023 at St Johns Hospital in Springfield.

She was born November 13, 1955, in East St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of Narsey and Shirley Clouse Ramsey.

She is survived by her daughter Tina (husband Travis) Merriman of Beardstown; four grandchildren Samara Schwalb-Merriman, Brandon Merriman, Taylor Merriman, and Remington Merriman all of Beardstown; three sisters Pauline Featherston of Quincy, Betty Blaise of Georgia, and Evelyn Havlen of Georgia; one brother Toney (wife Kim) Loyd of Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters Mary Hall, Emily Dunlap, and Nellie Ramsey, and three brothers William Ramsey, Jimmy Ramsey, and Cleveland Sawyers;

Nancy attended Manners School in Washington Park and graduated from Landsdown High School in the class of 1972. She was employed with Swift-Eckrich in Quincy and then Excel in Beardstown and retired from Cargill. Nancy enjoyed sewing, crafting, fishing, and watching baseball, not only on TV but also at the little league park. She hardly ever missed her grandchildren's activities and loved every moment of being a mom and grandma.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Private family services will be held. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
