Michael Allen Edwards

Michael A. Edwards, 47, of Springfield, died at his home on Saturday, August 10, 2024.

He was born on January 19, 1977, in Rushville, the son of Kenneth Goldsmith and Sheryl Ann Edwards. He married Jamie Edwards on December 30, 2008, and she survives in Galesburg.

He is also survived by his wife, mother Sheryl Ann Abbott of Rushville; maternal grandmother Geraldine Eaton of Beardstown; daughters Kaylah Edwards Burns (husband Parker) of Batesville, AR and Jessa Yahnke of Vermont, IL; Brother Vern Goldsmith; and a close friend Lindsey Hager of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his father.

Michael attended Beardstown schools in his younger years and graduated from Sulfur Rock High School in Arkansas with the class of 1995. He was a logger with his father-in-law, worked for the railroad, and was a manager for Taco Bell. He enjoyed watching TV shows, especially Yellowstone, fishing, playing the guitar, listening to music, and cooking. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers fan. If you were a recipient of a punch in the shoulder, you were one of his friends. His family brought him the most joy.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and there will be no formal services or burial at this time. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is handling the arrangements.
