Mark Allen "Marty" Knous

Mark Allen "Marty" Knous, 61, of Beardstown, died Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 10, 1963, in Beardstown, the son of William "Bill" and Carol Ann Dodd Knous. He married Stacey Tague on November 19, 2005, and she survives in Beardstown.

He is also survived by two sons, Kyle Tague (wife Courtney) of Kirksville, MO, and Mason Tague (wife Patience) of Bluffs; three grandchildren, Kenzliee, Slate, and Windsor Tague; one sister, Carol Sue Pennell (husband Joseph) of Jacksonville; one brother Robert "Robin" Knous (wife Angela) of Beardstown; father in law and mother in law Rich and Libby Mander of Jacksonville; numerous nieces and nephews; and his three dogs and a cat, Scarlet, Charlie, Cheyenne and Leo. His parents and brother, William Joseph Knous, preceded him in death.

Marty graduated from Beardstown High School in 1981 and attended Illinois College. He worked at the Cass County Star Gazette before starting his 32-year career with the United States Postal Service, mainly in Jacksonville. He loved sports and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys fan. He volunteered with Beardstown Little League, coaching many youths over the years, and he never missed one of the kids in the family's ball games. Marty was a giving man and loved animals, even overfeeding the squirrels at his home. His contagious personality will be missed by all those who loved him the most.

Memorial services will be held at Noon on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Burial will follow in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour before the services at the memorial home on Saturday.
