Marjorie Bierhaus

Marjorie Bierhaus, age 78 of Beardstown, died while on hospice care with Covid-19 complications on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.

She was born April 16, 1942 in Beardstown, the daughter of Robert Arthur and Mary Katherine Wagner Korte.

She is survived by her daughter Traci Ann Bierhaus (companion Barney Coil) of Beardstown; her granddaughter Lauren Elizabeth Knous (companion Drew Sarnecki); a sister Ruth Anne Wankel; her niece Marcie (husband Donald) Herter; a nephew Tom (wife Cathy) Flowers; six great nieces and nephews Sam and Sarah Flowers, Chris and Doug Herter, and Mark and Joe Baumhardt; one great great niece Milania Herter; her beloved dogs Harley Darwin, and Raggamuffin; and her “adopted” daughters Kim (husband Jim) Cline Watson, Gena (husband Jake) Coats, Rita Casey, and Jennifer Wedeking. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Elizabeth Flowers and Doris K. Stock, and three brothers-in-law Charles Flowers, Edwin Stock and Leo Wankel.

Marjorie attended Beardstown High School and furthered her education by attending Business School in St. Louis. She grew up a farmgirl and was thankful for the life lessons she learned from her father. Early in her married life, she moved with her husband to Texas while he served in the United States Air Force. While there, she was honored to be asked to model wedding gowns for Seventeen Magazine. She worked at Biederman Furniture in Jacksonville, later for Bohn Aluminum for 20 years in Beardstown until they closed, replenished stores with Revlon Makeup and Hallmark Cards, and then for Franklin Life Insurance in Springfield. Marjorie was forever grateful for Matthew Watson and his dog Jackson, for their heroism when she was involved in a car accident.

Marjorie attended Bluff Springs Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir. She was the best storyteller and knew all about her family’s history and enjoyed reading and watching TV with her fur babies. She was known for her massive Christmas village collection. Marjorie’s greatest joy was being a grandmother to Lauren and all her friends. She was dedicated to watching her granddaughter cheer for the BHS Tigers and spending Saturday mornings going to garage sales together. Marjorie loved visiting with her daughter, granddaughter, and their friends, and her home was always open to them.
