My name is Maggie Rose DeWitt also known as Max, Rosalina, Maggie Lou, or Magatha by the people who love me most. I was brought into this world on February 8, 2013 by my parents Joseph DeWitt and Sarah Coats.
I left this world on August 9th, 2021, in my Daddy and Shannon DeWitt’s (Bonus Mom) arms. Those who can’t be with me right now and need lots of love are my Mommy (special friend Clint Cowen) and Daddy (Shannon): four siblings; Gabe Gossage, Jozie, Joey, and Bryson DeWitt; Grandma Denise “Dede” Behymer; three uncles Michael (wife Taylor) DeWitt, Matthew (wife Erica) DeWitt and Daniel (wife Shelby) Flath; and numerous cousins and many friends. I am however with one of my favorite people grandpa Michael Smith who greeted me from the top of a tree he made me climb to be with him. WOW, its beautiful here and I will have plenty of opportunity to get dirty just like I did when I lived on earth.
My 3rd grade class at Gard elementary will not get to see me however I will still graduate with the class of 2031 so don’t forget about me. I might not get to dive or zip line from my hometown pool anymore, but I will practice diving and zipping through the clouds. You might just feel me occasionally if I can make it that far. I will continue to use my voice to sing as loud as I can and even paint pictures of my favorite 4-legged friends. I will miss playing with Rosey and Clyde but know my siblings will take over that job. My free spirit will live on, and I know my family will continue to give to others just as much as I would. Please know I am fine, and I still am sporting a big old grin the ones that need strength right now are my family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 5 PM Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. The family will meet friends from 3-5 PM Sunday at the memorial home. Private family burial will be held at a later date.
