Madeleen Wilcox

Madeleen "Maddie" Wilcox, 73 of Beardstown, died Friday, June 14, 2024 at Beardstown Health and Rehab.

She was born April 30, 1951 in Wood River, the daughter of Edward Morris and Kathleen Morris Meyer. She married Gordon Wilcox on June 29, 1974, just shy of 50 years, and he survives in Beardstown.

She is also survived by one daughter Charlotte Wilcox of Rushville; two sons Cory (companion Christine) Wilcox of Virginia and Joe (wife Sally) Wilcox of Nevada; three grandchildren Dayne, Mariah, and Makayla Wilcox; her twin sister Jean Hart of Virginia and sister Terry (husband Danny) Eudy of Wood River. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law James Hart.

Maddie graduated in 1970 and was of the Baptist faith. She started working right out of high school for IL Glass Factory, where she met the love of her life. After the wedding, they quickly began their family during those years, she stayed home to raise a family. In 1989, she began working for Excel, which brought the family to Beardstown. After an injury, she retired in 1995. She loved to keep her husband busy with projects around the house. In her spare time, you could find her fishing at her favorite spot the Locks. She enjoyed word puzzles and games on her phone. Spending time outside brought her so much joy.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown with Mike Courson officiating. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the memorial home. Cremation Rites will be accorded after services with no burial at this time.
