Linda Pierson

Linda Elaine Hamm Pierson, age 72 of Beardstown, died Sunday, March 27, 2016 at her home.

She was born May 19, 1943 in Browning, the daughter of Willis Leo and Doris Emmaline Lane Hamm. She married Arthur M. Pierson on March 30, 1964 and he preceded her in death in 1982.

She is survived by her children Judy Swan of Beardstown, Joyce Butler of Charter Oak, IA, Leonard Pierson of Browning, James Pierson of Virginia, and Paula (companion Terry Comiskey) of Beardstown; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one brother Robert (wife Rosemary) Hamm of Browning; three sisters June Little and Betty Lybarger both of Beardstown, Lois (husband Pete) Hamm of Browning; numerous nieces and nephews; and longtime family friend Earl Skinner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Roscoe Pierson, her grandson Raymond “RC” Gossage, four brothers Richard, John Leo, Charles, and Roger, two sisters Dolores in infancy and Ruth Bechard.

Linda graduated from Rushville High School in the class of 1961 and years later received her LPN License. She spent many years operating the Dirty Shame Saloon in Beardstown. Linda enjoyed playing cards, dice, Yahtzee and watching game shows. She was known for her sarcastic sense of humor. She loved to pole line fish, making others laugh and cherished spending time with her family.

Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Browning Cemetery with Reverend Fred Fritz officiating. The family will meet with friends from 4-7 PM Wednesday at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to Cass/Schuyler Area Hospice.
