Lettie Crafton

Lettie Virginia Crafton, age 81 of Springfield and formerly of Beardstown, died Friday, February 5, 2021 at her home.

She was born June 2, 1939 in Beardstown the daughter of John and Rose Shinall Hagerty. She married Richard Robert Crafton on September 18, 1956 and he preceded her in death on August 26, 1986.

She is survived by her children Becky (husband George) Bishop of Mt. Sterling, Richard (wife Sue) Crafton of Hillsboro, Michael Crafton of Springfield, Darryl (wife Sandy) Crafton of Springfield, and Terry Crim of Quincy; 17 grandchildren Amanda Knous, Zachary, Ethan, Shannon, and Clayton Bishop, Timothy, Kimberly, Becky, Jessie, Mike, Tony, Amanda, and Buddy Crafton, Trista and Franklin Burell, and Pam and Dwight Lynn; several great grandchildren; nephews Roy (wife Susan) Hagerty and Jack (wife Jody) Hagerty; a niece Linda Errico; and two special friends Penny Burrell and Wanda Knight. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sons Larry, Raymond, and Leslie Crafton, two sisters Elfreda Baptist and Margaret Hagerty, and three brothers Wilfred Jr, Floyd, and Howard Hagerty.

Lettie attended Beardstown Schools and later obtained her GED. She had worked at the St. Luke’s Children’s home in Beardstown, Heritage Health in Beardstown, and Wal-Mart. Lettie enjoyed crocheting, reading, and watching mystery television programs. She had a knack for putting together puzzles but most of all she cherished the time spent with family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown, with Reverend Jerimy Wooley officiating. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 4-7 PM Monday at the memorial home.

Due to the current health situation, face masks will be required, and social distancing guidelines should be followed.
