Leigha Morrell

Leigha Nicole Morrell, 37 of Athens, died Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 25, 1987 in Jacksonville, the daughter of Bryan Richard Morrell and Dianna Cooper.

She is survived by her mother Dianna (husband Stacey) Mayes of Beardstown; her father Bryan Richard "Dickie" Morrell of Beardstown; her grandmother Madalyn "Lynne" O'Hara of Beardstown; her companion Eric Hinds; her children Jocelyn Nicole, Riley Michael, Nevaeh Faith, Kamiyah, and Kaeson; four step-children Hailey, Emma, Adam, and Noah; two grandchildren Grayson and Raelynn; seven siblings Bryan, Cody, Dillon, Meara, Lincoln, Maggie, and Kenneth; a step-sister Tiffany; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Kenneth Dale "Kenny" O'Hara and her paternal grandparents Kenneth Dale and Margaret Morrell.

Leigha attended Beardstown Schools and was a First United Methodist Church member in Beardstown. She was full of life and loved people, whether serving as a waitress in restaurants in the surrounding area or just being around family and friends. Leigha was fond of the outdoors: Swimming, Softball, camping, and kayaking, even if she might have fallen overboard a time or two. No matter what happened in life, her kids and pets were her life, and she cherished all the memories created with those she loved the most.

Funeral services will be held at 5 PM Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown with Larry Knous officiating. The family will meet with friends from 3-5 PM Wednesday at the memorial home. Cremation Rites will be accorded after services with no burial at this time.
