Larry Fred Weller, 81, of Beardstown, died Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at his home.

He was born May 10, 1943, in Beardstown, the son of Fred Harvey and Viola Marie Reeve Weller.

He is survived by his son Joseph Reeve "Joe" Weller (wife Sara) of Tennessee, sister Linda Berghaus (husband Glen) of Meredosia, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Kris Hacker.

Larry attended Beardstown Schools and later honorably served in the United States Army in Vietnam, earning two Purple Hearts. He worked for Cargil in the Sanitation Department for 20 years and then retired in 2009 with the City of Beardstown after 22 years. He was a member of Guthrie-Pierce VFW Post #1239 of Beardstown. Larry enjoyed spending time with his friends at the VFW, bird watching, and the companionship of his dog Speckles.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024, in the Beardstown City Cemetery. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
