Lance Malone

William Lance Malone, 45, of Virginia, died at his home on Sunday, July 14, 2024.

He was born on July 28, 1978, and raised by his mother, Jean Watkins Jones.

He is survived by his life partner Lore McKennedy of Virginia; his mother Jean Jones of Beardstown; two children Tim Malone (companion Ashley Castellanos) and Elizabeth Malone both of Virginia; a grandson Christopher Malone of Virginia; his sister Terri Riffey (husband Brian) of Beardstown; a stepbrother Clinton Thomas Jones of Jacksonville; his aunts Brenda Watkins and Barbie Simpson and a Uncle Dave (wife Margie) Watkins of FL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

His father, Bill Malone, and stepfather, Tom Jones; Uncles Stan, Terry (Watty), and Mike Watkins, preceded him in death.

Lance attended Beardstown Schools and later obtained his GED. He worked at Dunham's in Jacksonville and bartended, offering a listening ear. Most recently, he worked at Sally's in Beardstown and other local bars. He cared deeply for his friends and customers, often ensuring they got home safely. In his free time, he enjoyed sleeping, fishing, listening to music, playing poker with his main crew, hanging out with the Funky Circus Fleas, and cheering on the Chicago Cubs or Oakland Raiders. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. The family will meet with friends from 1 PM until the time of services at the memorial home. There will be no burial.
