Kathryn Marie "Kate" Lovekamp, 91, of Arenzville, died surrounded by family on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Sarah D. Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
She was born August 23, 1933, in Arenzville, the daughter of William T. and Henrietta J. Krohe Carls. She married Merle Lovekamp on June 28, 1951, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville, and he preceded her in death on January 11, 2023.
She is survived by three daughters Susie (husband Mike) Meyer of Jacksonville, Vicki Meyer of San Antonio, FL, and Jill (husband Kevin) Schnitker of Holland, IN; two sons Scott (wife Karyn) Lovekamp of Wesley Chapel, FL and Bruce (wife Penny) Lovekamp of Arenzville; 11 grandchildren Jenna (husband Bryan) Crabtree, Cara (husband Kirk) Strubbe, Adam (wife Christy) Meyer, Aaron (wife Stacey) Meyer, Joe (wife Angie) Meyer, Josh (wife Stacy) Meyer, Crystal (husband Matt) Guarnieri, Tyson (wife Joanna) Schnitker, Trenton (wife Debbie) Lovekamp, Jordan (wife Mariela) Lovekamp, and Brooke Lovekamp; 24 great-grandchildren; one sister, Patricia Wydell (husband Jim); one brother Kenneth Carls; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two grandsons, Andy and Zach Meyer, three sisters, Mary Brannan, Alice Ore, and Joanne Jacobsen (surviving husband Wayne), and three brothers, Ronald "Bud" Carls (surviving wife Sandra of Beardstown), Jim Carls, and William "Bill" Carls.
Kate graduated from Arenzville High School in 1951 and achieved a great deal throughout her life. She worked as a bus driver for Triopia Schools and was a waitress at the Star Café in Beardstown and at AJ's in Arenzville. Her greatest joys were her family, along with being a grandmother and great-grandmother.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville. The burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Arenzville. The family will meet with friends from 10 AM until the time of services at the church on Friday. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
