Katherine Jean Jokisch, 91 of Bluff Springs, died Sunday, December 24, 2023 at her home.
She was born October 31, 1932 in Beardstown, the daughter of Russel and Alma K. Dufelmeier Nordsiek. She married John Philip Jokisch on June 6, 1954 and he preceded her in death on April 12, 2019.
Her children survive her Carol Jean (husband Bill) Luthanen of Plainfield, Aaron John (wife Vicki) Jokisch of Montrose, CO, and Richard Lee (wife Annette) Jokisch of Beardstown; two granddaughters Ashley Marie (Tim) LaDuke and Amanda Illeen (husband Steve) Stolte; two great-grandchildren Fitzgerald and Mabel Stolte; three step-grandsons Jon (wife Cassie) Stevens, Mark (wife Wendy) Stevens, and Jeremiah (wife Wendy) Jone; three step-great-granddaughters Lily Stevens, Erin Stevens and Amber Jones; one step-great-grandson Rowan Jones; two nieces Diane (husband Jon) Murray and Linda (husband Jeff) Menke; one nephew Keith (wife Sheryl) Jokisch; two great nephews Will Murray and Nicholas (wife Hannah) Menke; and a great-niece Hanna Murray.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one daughter, Sarah Katherine; two sisters, Phyllis Farrar (deceased husband Lee) and Mary Fiedler (deceased husband Kenneth); four nephews, Allan Farrar, Kelvin Fiedler, Mark Farrar and Kregg Jokisch.
Jean graduated from Arenzville High School in the class of 1950. Before marriage, she worked at First State Bank as a Teller. After marrying and becoming a mother, she was a homemaker and later returned to work in Beardstown schools' cafeterias. Jean was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Arenzville, where she was baptized and confirmed. She was also active in Anna Garten Circle and W.E.L.C.A. She was musically talented and could sing and play the organ. She enjoyed sewing and was an excellent cook. Above all else, she loved her family.
Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Monday, January 22, 2024 at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery in rural Arenzville. Colwell Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.
