Judith Fishel

Judith A. “Judy” Fishel, age 77 of Beardstown, died Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

She was born November 28, 1940 in Cairo, the daughter of Donovan and Iola Burnett Rogers. She married Harry LeRoy Fishel and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by her beloved companion Tim Harris of Beardstown; six grandchildren Dylan, Conner, Sarah, Logan, Chase, and Kaitlyn; and a sister Nancy Bell of St. Charles, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sons John, Ryan, and Shawn Fishel, a sister Sally Surratt; and two brothers Jimmy and Donald “Buddy” Rogers,

Judy attended Beardstown High Schools and later obtained her GED. She had a strong Christian faith that helped her cope through losing all three of her sons. Through her life time she attended church all in Beardstown. She was a previous member of Beardstown Emblem Club #474 and also volunteered for Hospice. She worked as a beautician in Beardstown for many years. Judy enjoyed bowling, was a talented oil painter, and making crafts; especially Christmas Wreaths. Judy’s highlight in life was cheering on her kids at the ball park. Most of all she will be greatly missed by her family and longtime companion.

A graveside service will be held at 10 AM Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Beardstown City Cemetery with Pastor Mike Courson officiating. The family will meet with friends from 5-7 PM Friday at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown.
