John Winchel Ren, age 82 of Beardstown, died Sunday, March 15, 2020 at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville.
He was born April 18, 1937 in Frederick, the son of George “Buck” and Alice Cole Ren. He married Evelyn Kay Grimes on September 10, 1958 in Frederick.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn Kay Ren of Beardstown; three children Ricky Lee Ren, Penny (husband Alan) Langel, and John Randall Ren all of Beardstown; three brothers Henry “Hank” (wife Peggy) Ren of Missouri, Bill (wife Jane) of Herrin, and Jerry (wife Bonnie) Ren of Frederick. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Pat Eaton.
John attended Frederick school and was baptized in the Jehovah’s Witness faith. He worked 32 years for BNSF Railroad in the track department until retiring in 1992. He enjoyed watching high school and professional basketball, He-Haw, and the Andy Griffith Show. He enjoyed listening to old Country music and his passion in life was helping others. His memory will live on in the lives of those he leaves behind.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 AM Friday, March 20, 2020 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Private family burial will be held in Messerer Cemetery in Frederick. There will be no visitation.
