Iola Mae Stoneking, 88 of Beardstown, died Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
She was born April 27, 1927 in Browning, the daughter of Orville Glenn and Elva Newell Belville. She married Carl Stoneking on March 12, 1946 and he preceded her in death on May 11, 2009.
She is survived by her children Terry (wife Stephanie) Stoneking of Springfield and Joyce (husband Archie) Stagner of Beardstown; five grandchildren Elisha (husband Michael) Malcomson, Tyler and Colin Stoneking, Holly (husband Scott) Christiansen, and Tyson (wife Wendy) Stagner; six great grandchildren Andrew and Paul Malcomson, Jessica, Rebecca, and Alex Christiansen, and Sarah Stagner; two brothers Robert Belville of Astoria and George Belville of Beardstown; two sisters Donna (husband Jack) Thurman of Beardstown, and Betty Briney of Bluff City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers Roy and Jerry Belville, and two sisters Edith Dowler and Bonnie Hill.
Iola attended Browning Schools and was also a member of the Browning Methodist Church. She loved to fish and cook. Working out doors with her flowers brought so much joy. If she wasn’t out doors or in the kitchen, Iola could be found playing Bingo or cards with her friends. She adored her family and friends, and will be thoroughly missed by all those who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. The family will meet with friends at 9-11 AM Tuesday, July 14th, 2015 at the memorial home. Burial will be in the Browning Cemetery.
Memorials have been suggested to Beardstown Ambulance or VFW War Memorial “Brick Fund”.
