George David Large, 76 of Beardstown, died Friday, February 28, 2025 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
He was born January 26, 1949 in Beardstown, the son of George William and Aileen E. Fritz Large. He married Gloria Moore on November 7, 1975.
He is survived by his wife Gloria Large of Beardstown; survived by his children George (wife Sarah) Large of Deland, FL, Terry Large of Rushville, Verdancia (James) Shaw of Rushville, Angel Gossage (companion Lawrence Cunningham) of Beardstown, Nellie (Kevin) Nash of Virginia, James (Bethane) Large of Ashland; a son-in-law Craig Gossage; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother John (wife Ronda) Large of Beardstown; four sisters Ila Smith, Winnie (Art) Davis of Litchfield, Roberta (husband Kevin) Dennis, and Dottie Grafford (companion Todd Logsdon); numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his special friends John and Kathleen Knous. He was preceded in death by his parents, two granddaughters, a sister Bunita Smith (deceased husband David Smith), and a brother Vernon Michael Large (surviving wife Linda).
David attended Beardstown Schools and attended Job Corp Trade School in Nemo, SD. He was a truck driver for over 50 years with various companies, with his last job being at Turner Farms in Beardstown. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, vacationing, singing karaoke, and was known by "Mr. Clean" on the CB Radio. David will be missed by his family and friends.
A time of remembrance will be held at 4:30 PM Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Guthrie-Pierce VFW Post #1239 in Beardstown with a meal to follow. There will be no burial. The family will meet with friends from 2:30 PM until the time of services at the VFW Post. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
