Frances Eileen Briney, 85, of Rushville, passed away on October 29, 2024 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
She was born August 29, 1939, near Chandlerville, Illinois, the daughter of Gilbert and Alma (Carls) Launer. She married Homer Briney on July 20, 1958, in Beardstown Illinois; Fran treasured her 66 years as a proud farm wife who worked alongside her husband, serving as business manager and bookkeeper of Briney Family Farms.
Fran is survived by her beloved husband Homer, sister Joyce (Duane) Lang of O'Fallon, Missouri, son Tim (Stephanie) Briney of Frederick, Illinois, daughters Pam (Fred) Watson of Wilmette, Illinois, and Jan (Mike) Nocita of Arlington Heights, Illinois, and son Tony (Amy) Briney of Newton, Massachusetts. She was adored by her eight cherished grandchildren, Courtney (Jeff) Ahlers, Andrew (Maria) Watson, Tyler (Hannah) Nocita, Zach Watson, Megan Nocita, Jordan Briney, Jack Briney, Nick Nocita, great granddaughter Isabelle Ahlers, and her many beloved step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Donald Launer, and step-mother Fairy Launer.
Fran was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Beardstown, Rushville P.E.O. Chapter AL, and Schuyler County Farm Bureau and was previously a member of Schuyler County Home Extension. She so enjoyed gardening and working on her lawn and flowers, feeding the lovely hummingbirds who spent summers flitting around her patio, and long walks with her happy and adored dog, Molly.
But without a doubt Fran will be most remembered as a dedicated and selfless mom and amazing grandmother, who always offered the warmest smile and most welcoming embrace. She found such great joy in her family's many gatherings and special events, and delighted in being engaged and involved in her grandchildren's lives and adventures. She loved her family and many dear friends with all her heart.
Visitation for Fran will be held Saturday, November 2 from 3:00-5:00pm at Colwell Memorial Home (515 State Street in Beardstown, Illinois), followed by a 5:30pm funeral service at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church (301 West 4th Street, Beardstown).
