Dollie Delores Lewis, age 93 of Beardstown, died Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville.
She was born March 26, 1927 in Beardstown, the daughter of Jessie and Rose Gabbert. She married Buck Lewis on March 15, 1943 at Camp Ripley in Minnesota and he preceded her in death on February 6, 2000.
She is survived by two daughters Sharon Lewis and Sue (husband David) Gerdes both of Beardstown, three grandchildren Amanda (husband Shawn) Wellenkamp, Casey (wife Carmen) Gerdes, and Rich (wife Ronda) Dwyer; six great grandchildren Kaylee (significant other Dylan Patterson) Krems, Tyson Krems, Rylan and Brayden Wellenkamp, and Jasmine and Caden Gerdes; one great great granddaughter Charlotte Patterson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Buck, her son Tom Lewis, and her sister Goldie Smith.
Dollie attended Beardstown Schools. She worked at a button factory in Oregon but the majority of her career was working alongside her husband as a bookkeeper for their business Lewis Disposal and Landfill Service. Dollie participated in many bowling leagues and enjoyed crocheting, collecting chickens and roosters, and playing cards or Bingo but most of all she cherished the time spent with family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, February 12, 2021 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 9:30 AM until the time of services at the memorial home on Friday.
Due to the current health situation, face masks will be required and social distancing guidelines should be followed.
