Dianna Dawn Cooper Mayes, 57, of Beardstown, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Sarah D. Culbertson Hospital in Rushville.
She was born May 9, 1967, in Beardstown, the daughter of Harry "Butch" Cooper and Madalyn "Lynne" Cooper. In June 2017, she married the love of her life, Stacey Mayes, after being together for 30 years, and he survives in Beardstown.
She is also survived by her mother, Lynne O'Hara of Beardstown; a child Tiffany Mayes; grandchildren Jocelyn Nicole, Riley Michael, Nevaeh Faith, Kamiyah, Kaeson, Hailey, Emma, Adam, and Noah; two great-grandchildren Grayson and Raelynn; siblings Diane Kirchner of Beardstown, Nancy O'Hara of Morristown,TN, Debbie (wife Michelle Walker) O'Hara of Beardstown, Michael Cooper of Jacksonville, Myrna (husband Craig) Bomkamp of Girard, Butch (wife Candy) Cooper of Virginia, Kenneth (partner Tom Walmsley) O'Hara, Jr of Decatur, and Mark (wife Karrie) O'Hara of Beardstown; sister in law Melissa Sanchez (husband Juan)and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her biological father, Harry "Butch" Cooper, her dad, Kenneth Dale "Kenny" O'Hara, and her daughter, Leigha Morrell (surviving companion, Eric Hinds).
Dianna graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1985. She enjoyed people and worked for years as a waitress, a bartender, a cook, and a gas station clerk at TMart. She loved to paint and considered herself a river rat. Boating with friends and family quickly became a favorite pastime. The simple pleasure of driving around town and grabbing her favorite ice from DQ brought her so much joy. She spent as much time as possible with her grandkids, loving on them, and her ornery personality loved giving others a hard time. Everyone will miss Dianna's contagious laughter and smile. She was a friend to all and a stranger to no one.
Funeral services will be held at 5 PM on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown, with Pastor Mel Nielson officiating. The family will meet with friends from 3 to 5 PM on Monday at the memorial home. Cremation rites will be accorded after the services, with no burial at this time.
