Denise Ann “Denny” Hoon, age 68 of Beardstown, died Sunday, October 15, 2017 at her home.
She was born December 29, 1948 in Morris, the daughter of Joseph Ball and Beverly Mae Clark Laughary. She married Dennis Hoon on August 27, 1985 in Las Vegas.
She is survived by her husband Dennis Hoon of Beardstown; two brothers Keith (wife Betty) Laughary of Morris and Pat (wife Kandis) Laughary of Orlando, FL; her sister-in-law Georgia (husband John) Arenz of Beardstown; her nieces and nephews Brian (wife Kelly), Kurt (wife Shannon), and Kevin (wife Ruth) Laughary, Kristen (husband Josh) Reich, Trevor (wife Kylee) Arenz, and Briana Arenz; and her great nieces and great nephews Leah, Connor, Jaxson, Patrick, Katelyn, Joan, Trace, Kale, and Kellen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her grandparents Delbert and Lucille Laughary.
Denny graduated from Morris High School where she received the Daughters of American Revolution Scholarship. She later graduated from Illinois College in Jacksonville with a Degree in Biology and Chemistry. She worked at the Arrow Restaurant in Beardstown through college, and later worked in the Quality Assurance Department for Oscar Mayer in Beardstown and Bartlow Brothers in Rushville. Denny was a member of the Morris American Legion, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Cubs fan; which she enjoyed making food, especially appetizers, for when her favorite teams played. She was always there to help others, loved spending time with her family, and taking trips with her husband.
Cremation rites have been accorded. The family will meet with friends from 5-7 PM Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. There will be no services.
Memorials have been suggested Cass County Food Pantry or Cass County Mental Health SASS Program.
