Deloris Fay Boice, 84 of Beardstown, died Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Beardstown Health and Rehab Center.

She was born October 8, 1939 in Virginia, IL, the daughter of David and Marie Shaurette French. She married Donald LeRoy Boice on November 1, 1957 and he preceded her in death on May 19, 2019.

She is survived by her daughter Diane (husband Brian) Warden of Beardstown; two grandchildren Scott (wife Kelsi) Warden of White House, TN, and Hannah (husband Adam) Hahn of Chatham; one great-grandson Beckham; a great-granddaughter on the way; her twin sister Doris McKenzie of Beardstown (deceased husband Earl); one brother Roy (wife Barbara) French of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Douglas Boice, and two brothers Bill (surviving wife Pat) French and Jack French (deceased wife Judy) French.

Deloris, a woman of many talents and interests, graduated from Beardstown High School in 1957 and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Her career took her to various healthcare institutions in the Beardstown Area, including nursing homes and the Health Department. Later, she worked at the Beardstown Houston Memorial Library. Deloris found joy in China painting, knitting, and hand quilting. These hobbies allowed her to express her creativity and love for crafts. She was also a lifelong member of Sangamon Valley Presbyterian Church and volunteered with the Beardstown Chamber of Commerce and Cass/Schuyler Area Hospice, both in the office and with patients. Dementia overtook her for the past seventeen years, and now she is at peace. Family was an essential part of Dee's life. She shared a special bond with her twin sister Doris and cherished her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, June 3, 2024 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown Pastor Mike Courson officiating, and Nurse Honors conducted by Central Illinois Nurse Honor Guard. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services at the memorial home on Monday.
