David Wells

David Austin Wells, 57 of Beardstown, died on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at his home surrounded by family.

He was born March 16, 1966, in Beardstown, the son of Terry Wells and Carla Savage. He married Sherry Smedly on February 1, 1997 and she survives in Beardstown.

He is also survived by his daughter Kate Wells of Beardstown; his mother Carla Savage (companion Eric Parrish) of Beardstown; his father Terry (wife Terri) Wells of Kentucky; his brother Ryan Wells, of Monitcello; a sister-in-law Suzanne (husband Kraig) Prather of Rushville and their children Alexa and Kloie Prather; his uncle Darwin (wife Donna) Dodds; his aunt Karen Vogt; two cousins Jennifer (husband Travis) Foster and their daughter Skye, and Jamie (husband Kevin) Watford; and his mother-in-law Beverly Moore. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Carl and Betty Hammel, his paternal grandparents Bob and Ann Wells, and his father-in-law Jack Moore.

David graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1984. He was employed with Excel and Cargil and most recently for Laborer's Local 231 in highway construction. David was a member of Guthrie-Pierce VFW Post #1239 Auxiliary. Dave had a passion for the outdoors and loved to fish, hunt, and ride his boat on the Illinois River. His pride and joy in life was his daughter and anyone that knew Dave knew just how protective of a father that he was to Kate. His family and friends were his life line. His loud presence will never go unheard, but will missed by all, especially at home.

Funeral services will be held at 12 PM Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Burial will be in Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends two hours prior to the services at the memorial home on Saturday.
