David Gibson

David A. Gibson, 59, of Petersburg, formerly of Springfield, passed away unexpectedly of a massive heart attack Wednesday, July 8, 2020, while on vacation in Las Vegas. He married Brenda (Pond) Gibson on July 25, 2008, and she survives. He is also survived by two children, Breanna Osmer McGovern (husband Rob) and Lucas James Osmer (wife Sierra), both of Virginia; five grandchildren, Emily Pratt, R.D. McGovern, Aubrey Osmer, Ethan Allen and Raelyn Osmer. Also surviving are two brothers, Frank Gibson (wife Kimberly), Mark Gibson (companion Terry Boyd); one sister, Susan Gibson; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Alice Gibson, nephew, Dalton Gibson, and close cousin Bill Bacon.

David was a member of Local IBEW 193 and an avid horseman and roper. He will be dearly missed and remembered as a genuine cowboy by countless friends in the roping community.

A memorial service will be held at 5 PM Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Burial will be held at a later date. The family will meet with friends two hours prior to the services at the memorial home.
