Clarence Delmos Winkelman, age 88 of rural Arenzville, died Monday, December 10, 2018 at his home.
He was born March 26, 1930 in Arenzville, the son of Albert and Elda Lovekamp Winkelman. He married Fay Mallicoat on December 28, 1951 in Arenzville.
He is survived by his wife Fay Winkelman of rural Arenzville; two daughters Karen Winkelman of Beardstown, and Sherry (husband Michael) Rea of Edwardsville; four grandchildren Candace, Natalie, Nicholas, and Christopher Rea; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers Harold, Marlin, Leland, Paul, and Russel Winkelman, and two sisters Kathryn and Pauline.
Delmos attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School and Arenzville High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, and before he was deployed he married the love of his life. Upon his return home, he purchased some land and began farming; something he began helping with at a young age. Delmos was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville where he served on the church council and as Sunday School Superintendent. He enjoyed playing on the Schnitker Bowling Team, helping with the Arenzville Burgoo, playing Bingo at McDonalds, and walking and riding his bike. Delmos and his wife loved to travel. They spent their winters in Texas, listened to concerts in Branson, and basked in the sun on the beach. Delmos was always a hard worker and lent a hand where needed.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville, with Reverend Andrew Dierks officiating. Burial will in the Arenzville North Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
