Carolyn J. Knous, age 78 of Beardstown, died surrounded by family on Friday, April 30, 2021 at her home. She was born December 13, 1942 in Beardstown, the daughter of Charles and Dorothy Allen Hall. She married Kenneth E. Knous on August 8, 1964 and he preceded her in death on January 18, 2016.
She is survived by two sons Kevin (wife Ami) Knous of Meredosia and Mark Knous of Beardstown; seven grandchildren Haley, Hannah, Peyton, Parker, Kenny, Destiny, and Justin; one great grandson Ayden; a great granddaughter on the way Ainsley; one sister Jo Ann Manuel of Beardstown; one brother Jerry (wife Shirley) Hall of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother and sister in infancy Bobby and Marilyn, her sister Mary Lou Lawson, and two brothers Larry Lee (surviving wife Virginia) Hall and Dale Hall.
Carolyn attended Beardstown Schools and graduated from Triopia High School. She had worked in the dietary department at Elmwood Manor in Beardstown. After her marriage and when she became a mother, Carolyn stayed at home to raise her family. She never missed Bonanza or Gunsmoke and enjoyed listening to country music and Elvis. She had a passion for board games and puzzles but most of all spending time with her grandchildren. She will be missed by all.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown with Pastor John Ruppel officiating. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services at the memorial home.
