Carlos Eugene Avery, 66 of Waterman, died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Kishwaukee Hospital in Dekalb.
He was born October 31, 1948 in Beardstown, the son of Carl Francis and Norma Lee Mayes Avery. He married Rebecaa Deming on June 14, 1994 in Beardstown.
Surviving is his wife Rebecca “Becky” Avery of Waterman; his mother Norma Lee Avery of Beardstown; his children Don C. E. Avery, William L. F. (wife Julie) Avery, Heidi (husband Bobby Joe) Brown all of Beardstown, and Tim (wife Nicky) Bennett of Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother Clifford Meyer; and two sisters Sharon Aney and Diane Meyer.
He was preceded in death by his father, a daughter Angie Bennett, and numerous brothers and sisters.
Carlos graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1967 and later served in the United States Army as a Tank Specialist. Carlos was currently working at Caterpillar in Montgomery as a Welder and had been there for over 20 years. He enjoyed Harley Davidson’s and could be seen fishing on his boat. Most important to Carlos was his family, especially his grandchildren, and was happiest when he was with them or if he could make them his famous breaded tenderloin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown with Rev. Fred Fritz officiating. Burial will be at Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services at the memorial home.
