Brian Dawson

Brian Lee Dawson, 58, of Chandlerville, died Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

He was born August 21, 1965, in Beardstown, the son of Harold and Brenda Jeffers Dawson. He married Melissa Estes on July 2, 2010, and she survives in Chandlerville.

He is also survived by his son Travis Dawson (companion Laci McDaniel) of Chandlerville; three step-children Krystal Spears (companion Duke Richard) of Washington, Sarah Rice (husband Justice) of Virginia, and Dustin Spears (companion Andrea Lashbrook) of Beardstown; 9 grandchildren Breyer, Rhys, Conner, Oakley Emma, Breyson, Nolan, Emmett, and Roland; a sister Kristy Loeschner (husband Bob) of Jacksonville; a brother Brent Dawson (wife Laura) of Jacksonville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Christopher Childers.

Brian graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1984. He worked at Tate Cheese in Valley City and Excel Corporation in Beardstown. Later in life, he worked for Reinke Irrigation in Havana and Ron's Construction, building grain bins. He had a passion for collecting coins and hunting arrowheads and mushrooms. He also enjoyed yard sales and setting up a yearly booth on Spoon River Drive. He was gifted with his hands and could make just about anything. In all, he honestly just loved staying home and spending time with the grandkids.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the service at the memorial home on Wednesday. There will be no burial.
