Brenda Gibson

Brenda Lee Gibson, age 60 of Virginia and formerly of Petersburg, died Friday, September 11, 2020 at her home surrounded by family and friends.

She was born August 26, 1960 in Beardstown, the daughter of Martin E. and Mary E. Davidsmeier Pond. She married David A. Gibson on July 25, 2008 and he preceded her in death on July 8, 2020.

She is survived by her daughter Breanna (husband Robert) McGovern and Lucas (wife Sierra) Osmer both of Virginia; five grandchildren Emily Pratt, R.D. McGovern, Aubrey Osmer, Ethan Allen and Raelyn Osmer; two sisters Kathy (husband Bill) Wellenkamp of Beardstown and Amy (companion Mike Morris) Lancaster of Virginia; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her best friend and soul sister Brenda Crum. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Brenda graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1978. She enjoyed working and waitressed at restaurants in the surrounding area and loved all the people she met throughout her career. She liked playing games and mushroom hunting, cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals was top priority, but Brenda’s faith and her family were most important to her. She was happiest being with family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown with Pastor Matthew Haberman officiating. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 5-7 PM Wednesday at the memorial home.

Due to the current health situation, face masks will be required and to comply with social distancing guidelines, a limited number of people will be allowed in the memorial home at one time.
