Becky Jo Young

Becky Jo Young, 65 of South Jacksonville, died Monday, December 16, 2024 at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

She was born September 4, 1959 in Beardstown, the daughter of Orville Lee "Skip" Hageman and Betty Florey Lyles. She married James E. "Jim" Young on February 14, 1998 and he preceded her in death on July 18, 2013.

She is survived by her stepson, Joseph Young (wife Jenifer) of Jacksonville; two grandchildren Terry James "T.J." and Savannah Rose Young, both of Jacksonville; one brother Tracy (wife Linda) Hageman of Liberty; three sisters Terri Farwell of Beardstown, Cindy (husband Scott) Cantrall of Andrew, and Carla Wessel of St. Petersburg, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather Walter Lyles, her brother Walter "Opie" Lyles, and her brother-in-law Les Farwell.

Becky graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1977. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, and she attended the First Christian Church in Beardstown and the First Southern Baptist Church in Jacksonville. She worked for Illinois Glove, Star Gazette, Bohn Aluminum, and Jacksonville Journal Courier throughout the years. In her free time, she loved riding a motorcycle with her late husband and finding different places to visit and eat. She was known for her love of painting rocks and her movie dates with the grandkids, which always brought her so much joy. She cherished the time spent with family.

Cremation rites have been accorded. The family will meet with friends from 5-7 PM Friday, December 27, 2024 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. There will be no formal services.
