Barbara Stock

Barbara Jeanette Stock, age 87 of Beardstown, died Monday, May 28, 2018 at Sarah D. Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born November 11, 1930 in Jacksonville, the daughter of Luther D. and Cora Lee Wells McKinley. She married Robert H. Stock on July 10, 1949 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown and he preceded her in death on March 25, 2005.

She is survived by her two daughters Samantha Stock of Kissimmee, FL and Diana Sue Paisley of Rushville; two granddaughters Athena Marie Stock and Lindsey Nicole Dyer; two great granddaughters Janaia Nicole Vega and Alexis Lynne Tovar; one great grandson Romeo A’drian Malaga; her special niece Kathy Paul; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six sisters, Elizabeth (husband Edward) Lashbrook, Opal (husband Elmer) Houston, Frances (husband Fred) Torbeck, Edna (husband George) White, Dorothy (husband Frank) Paul, and Mary McKinley, three brothers Vernon (wife Stella), Luther E. (wife Sally) McKinley, and Everett McKinley, her special nephew Robert Paul, and twin nephews Richard and Bruce Torbeck.

Mrs. Stock graduated from Arenzville High School in the class of 1949. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown where she also taught Sunday School, and a 50 year member of Edgewood Night Homemakers. Mrs. Stock was employed with Wells Lamont Glove Factory in Beardstown for 10 years. After her children were raised, she worked at Bud and Janie’s Florist in Beardstown, and from 1982 until her retirement in 2006, she managed Bread of Love in Beardstown. She enjoyed doing needlework, working in her flower garden, and going out with her friends. Mrs. Stock loved serving her lord and church, being with her family, and teaching her grandchildren life skills.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Monday, June 4, 2018 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown, with Reverend Scott Egbers officiating. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 3-5 PM Sunday at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown.
