Ami Lynn Knous, 56 of Meredosia, died Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at her home.
She was born April 4, 1968 in Beardstown, the daughter of Sherry Lynn Campbell. She married Kevin Knous on May 19, 1989 and he survives.
She is also survived by three daughters and a son Haley Knous (companion Butch Anderson) of Meredosia, Hannah Knous of Meredosia, Peyton Knous of Beardstown, and Parker Knous of Meredosia; a grandson Ayden Gerecke; a granddaughter Ainsley Anderson; an aunt Sondra Walters of Meredosia; an numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, her maternal grandparents Ora and Imogene Hirte Campbell, her paternal grandparents Margaret and Jack Hatfield, two aunts Betty Lovekamp and Dorothy Swan, and her "three-legged schneagle" Lily.
Ami attended Beardstown High School with the class of 1986 and attended Spoon River Community College, where she received her LPN while working in a nursing home in the surrounding area. She then obtained her RN through the Lincoln Land Community College Bridge program. She was the Director of Nursing at Scott County Nursing Home and a nurse for Dr. Malcott. It was apparent she was a natural caregiver and an excellent nurse. She was the first person to be called when any family or friend had a health question, and she welcomed them all. Towards the end of her career she worked in group homes, JDC, and finished off with providing in-home-care to several family and friends. She loved animals, mainly her surviving fur babies Hootie and Sassy. Her favorite time of year was when she could soak up the sun while lounging in her pool or spending time outside in her flower garden. She was an avid Cubs fan and the best cook. She had a special BBQ sauce recipe that should have been bottled and marketed. Most of all, her sense of humor allowed for never a dull moment anywhere she went. She was helpful and would do anything for those she loved. Her favorite movie was Jaws, and she never missed watching Shark Week on the Discovery channel. In her younger years, she cherished being raised by her grandparents and loved sharing memories of all their adventures. Ami was blessed growing up surrounded by her cousins. She had a close relationship with her aunts, and but being a wife, mother, and grandmother brought her the most joy in life.
